»Something Lost«

Now, we come to first multi-lingual post—sooner than I had expected ;) But I thought, to stay in the habit of posting fairly regularly, I would have to come up with something, which I don’t know whether I can do that regularly… For me, finding something to write about is always hard. So, I’ll have to draw on already existing material.

 — But now, to the purpose of today’s post:

Since the following poem is in a way a rip-off of a poem by Emily Dickinson (poem#181 after T.H. Johnson)—let’s call it ›inspired by‹ instead ;) —I thought it’s fine to show it here. I wrote that in 2006 and I remember that a friend of mine even made a song out of it, but I have no idea where that is at the moment. Hope you enjoy it:

Something Lost

I lost a dream the other day
I hope you understand I tell
It’s just that it was all the way
Around me like a shell

It bore me wide and took me far
I cannot start to say
How much I miss it now, that it’s not there
How everything seems blank today

If anyone can feel with me
And can anticipate the pain
Then you have lost a dream as well
And we can grieve together
—but in vain
